Most modern coating systems today require a high standard of surface cleanliness for successful long term coating protection of the steel. A high percentage of premature coating failure is due to poor surface preparation.

We now have our new Spencer & Halstead wheelabrator in operation allowing us to singificantly speed up production and maintain a high standard of blast clean.

Sa 2.5 (SSPC-SP10) - Near white metal, a very thorough blast clean)

Sa 3 (SSPC-SP5) - White metal, blast cleaned to visually clean steel

Inside the blast enclosure is a system of 8 rotating wheels with vanes to propel the abrasive at the surface so that all sides of the steel are cleaned as it travels through the machine.

To ensure the highest finish possible, automatic Shotblast profiles are tested daily and inspected by external consultants every 4 weeks.

The automatic bay is 1.5 metres wide and 1.5 metre high with a 10 tonne lift capacity, and using a special Metabrasive mix giving a better blast profile, ideal for all paint specifications
