Most modern coating systems today require a high standard of surface cleanliness for successful long term coating protection of the steel. A high percentage of premature coating failure is due to poor surface preparation.

ISS manual booth can blast clean to the following recognised standards.

Sa 2.5 (SSPC-SP10) - Near white metal, a very thorough blast clean)

Sa 3 (SSPC-SP5) - White metal, blast cleaned to visually clean steel

The manual bay is 4.1 metres wide, 4.1 metres in height and 15 metres long, and uses chilled iron Metabrasive G17 which is ideal for hot metal spraying both aluminium and zinc. The bay accommodates a trailer up to 45 feet with doors of 5 metres wide with four overhead 5 tonne cranes, giving a 10 tonne lift capacity.
